Meet the piece that took me two years to finish…and that I had to get a lot of help naming!
This is ‘Lost and Found.” I started this painting a few months after my daughter was born, around the time when we all finally started sleeping well that I felt vaguely creative again. I mostly did it for fun, not as a piece I’d later share, and intended this house to be one that I would personally like to live inside.
I got about 80% done with it…and I set it aside for other projects and forgot about it for two years.
When I picked the piece up again, I reworked some colors and adjusted some proportions, but I really wanted to turn this into a more illustrative, story-based painting. So, I added the man, a bouquet of flowers, and a dog waiting at the door. I left things open-ended, so you could decide exactly what their story is. In my own head, he’s returning home after something difficult and at long last can have peace again.
This piece measures approximately 10×12” and is painted with acrylics on Strathmore canvas paper.
